The City of Davis (population about 60,000) is located in California's fertile Central Valley, 12 miles west of the capital City of Sacramento and 75 miles east of the San Francisco Bay Area. Aside from a world-famous university campus, Davis is known for its attention to the quality of life: the environment, controlled growth, and innovative housing. The weather is usually mild, with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The city streets are lined with big shade trees and are marked with more than 95 miles of bikeways. There are community pools, tennis courts, playing fields, parks, and jogging paths throughout the City. The Saturday Farmers Market is not to be missed! Overall, Davis is a most pleasant place to live, study, and work.
